Our speakers:
Jonathan R. Green, FRGS
Director Galapagos Whale Shark Project
Jonathan R. Green, founder and director of the Galapagos Whale Shark Project, will lead your dive adventure in the Galapagos. A University of North London graduate, he has spent nearly three decades working on the islands and has made thousands of dives. His fascination with whale sharks led to the creation of the project to understand their life cycle. Green is a member of the Royal Geographical Society and works on expedition ships in the polar regions when not in the Galapagos. He also teaches photography workshops globally and has received international awards. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and French, with basic German skills.
Jenny Waack
Founder Galapagos Shark Diving®
Jenny Waack, founder of Galapagos Shark Diving®, has supported the Galapagos Whale Shark Project for years. Born in Germany, she studied Business Administration and worked in investment banking.
Her passion for travel and marine life led her to dedicate her life to protecting whale sharks and the oceans. Through Galapagos Shark Diving, she supports research projects in the Galapagos,
especially the Whale Shark Project, with donations and Citizen Science programs. When not diving or researching, she works on expedition ships in the Arctic and Antarctic. Fluent in German and
English, with good Spanish skills, she lives in Costa Rica and enjoys various outdoor activities.
By holding educational presentations about the Galapagos Whale Shark research project, the ecosystem in the Galapagos, oceans, marine wildlife and citizen science, we create more knowledge and understanding for divers and non-divers alike. We think that if you understand a species better, you can protect it. We believe that if we educate people, they will be inspired to protect our oceans and we will have more ambassadors who can create a better future for marine wildlife and their habitat.
During our live-events we share about the research project in detail and highlight some Citizen Science program you can support together with us. Every live-event also offer the opportunity to meet us in person and ask us any question you might have. Check back often as new live-events will be added as they are schedule.
See below for past and upcoming live events as well as videos, podcast episodes, and online articles that our team has been featured in! Our team has such an incredible amount of knowledge and they all share the passion of sharing their expertise of Whale Sharks, marine wildlife, and ocean conservation with others.
