Gill’s Club – Chicas con Agallas
Empowering the Next Generation of Ocean Protectors
In 2025, Galapagos Shark Diving donated USD 2,212.34 to Chicas con Agallas (Gill’s Club) — part of our total annual contribution of USD 31,523.40 toward conservation in the Galápagos Islands.
While satellite tags protect whale sharks today, Gill’s Club invests in who will protect them tomorrow.

What Is Chicas con Agallas?
Chicas con Agallas is a science-based educational initiative for girls aged 8–12 across San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz, and now expanding to Isabela and Floreana.
Globally, women represent only 24% of the STEM workforce.
In regions like the Galápagos, access to scientific pathways can be even more limited.
Gill’s Club changes that trajectory.
The girls participate in:
- Field observation with researchers
- Microscope lab sessions
- Marine ecology lessons
- Snorkeling and species identification
- Scientific method training
- Environmental awareness workshops
They learn to ask research questions.
They learn to analyze samples.
They learn to understand ecosystems.
And most importantly — they learn that they belong in science.
Why This Matters to Us
Conservation is not only about protecting species.
It is about building local stewardship.
It is about ensuring that the next generation of Galápagos scientists, marine biologists, park rangers, and conservation leaders come from the islands themselves.
Our support of Gill’s Club began in 2025 — and it will continue.
Because protecting the ocean requires both science and social equity.
From Whale Sharks to Young Scientists
When we donated USD 29,311.06 to whale shark research and USD 2,212.34 to youth education, we did not separate those actions.
They are connected.
The same ocean that whale sharks migrate through is the ocean these girls grow up beside.
Long-term conservation only works when local communities are empowered.
Gill’s Club represents that long-term investment.
“Travel with purpose. Support science. Invest in the next generation.
From Curiosity to Conservation Leadership”
